Chappell Medal Piano Competition

The Chappell Medal Piano Competition is one of the Royal College of Music's most prestigious competitions. This year demonstrated a particularly high standard, with the competitors comprising more than 20 of the RCM's leading pianists - who have been enjoying a particularly successful year of competition success around the world.

After two rounds of competition and a lengthy process of deliberation, the judging panel of Hilary Macnamara, Stephen Coombs and Michael Collins announced the results:

Chappell Medal and First Prize: Ina Charuashvili

Hopkinson Gold Medal and Second Prize: Alexey Chernov

Hopkinson Silver Medal and Third Prize: Alexei Petrov

Esther Fisher prize for the Best Undergraduate : Poom Prommachart (Highly Commended in the first round).
